This training will focus on the importance of social-emotional learning to the physical and emotional well-being of youth in care and the need for a culturally responsive approach. This training will explore cultural and linguistic competency, (which includes being aware of one’s own cultural identity), having an understanding of differences in various cultures of the populations we serve, learning and building on varying cultural and community norms and understanding the differences between various cultural or ethnic groups that make each person unique. Through dynamic discussion and interactive creative arts-based activities, participants will learn the skills to provide thoughtful, responsible services to youth in their care.
