One of the most significant challenges for therapists, drug prevention educators, conflict resolution managers, and any health education programs that work with System Involved youth is to design a presentation that will be effective in achieving its goal of prevention. Youth, during these times, are more diverse than ever and coincidentally, hold the keys to innovation that are sorely needed to make major improvements to our world health. Peer to peer education or Peer Education/Peer Mentoring is an effective strategy to engage System Involved patients and clients away from the use of substances and process addiction behaviors into constructive, transformational behaviors that are sustainable, and lead to healthy community engagement.

In this workshop we will demonstrate why youth to youth health education works with System Involved youth, how to build an effective youth development program for them, how to manage it to make it work, and how to introduce it to adult partners in order to gain the necessary buy in. Utilizing these methods will empower us to deepen our effectiveness with System Involved youth and their families to support people towards healthier lifestyles
