How do we utilize methods of Trauma Informed Care while adjusting to meet the needs of those who have experienced intergenerational racial trauma? The first steps are understanding the concepts of trauma-informed care and of intergenerational trauma. This interactive workshop will explore the history of intergenerational trauma experienced by people of color and how to recognize their trauma responses. We will further explore how to adapt a trauma-informed approach with folks to ensure we resist re-traumatization. Finally, what role or responsibility do white folks have to be in a process of self-reflection around their implicit or explicit collusion in systemic racism in order for them to be their fully authentic selves?
