System-involved youth may externalize their distress and engage in risky behaviors. So, it is imperative for social service providers to learn how to navigate crises with high risk populations. Training will help providers understand the function of the behavior, how to apply harm reduction strategies and how to create a safety plan with clients engaging in risky behaviors. These behaviors will be discussed: running away, risky sexual behaviors, gang involvement, substance use, and being in an abusive relationship. Training will be offered in English and Spanish to help providers providing Spanish-speaking services know how to describe crisis management and safety planning in Spanish.
