There is a prevalence of racial disproportionality and disparity with in the child welfare system. As service providers it is important that we understand the reality of the impact systems have on Black, Indigenous and Youth of Color and the measures that we can take to be anti-racist in this field. In this training we will take a look at the ways in which socialization, oppression, privilege and racism impact communities of color and the field of social welfare. The work has to begins internally, understanding the self and the system that we are a part of to be able to create change. By the end of this 2-part training series participants will develop anti-racist knowledge and practices.
It is highly recommended that participants attend both sessions.
