This training focuses on substance use as a growing issue with system-involved youth. Youth may use substances as a means to cope with trauma and adversity, because of peer pressure, experimentation, etc. In addition, the growing opioid epidemic has lead to many youth and young adults losing their lives. It is crucial for providers to recognize warning signs and learn how to support youth using substances. This training will provide and overview of how substance use may show up while working with youth, review risk factors for substnace use, and introduce strategies to support youth navigating substance use issues.
