The emotional health and wellbeing in System Involved Youth can be compromised and disrupted due to the extenuating life circumstances and experiences they endure. This manifests for many System Involved Youth who face challenges with mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, anger and other chronic illnesses including substance abuse or troublesome use. This course lays an educational foundation for understanding emotional health as well as techniques, tools and skills to develop an internal process for coping with emotional challenges such as depression, anxiety and anger.

Providers will learn a simple Skills Based System to support System Involved Youth in their emotional health as well as techniques to develop an internal processing system to cope with emotional challenges. A deeper understanding will be provided of how insecurely attached youth often develop a substitute relationship externally with substance addiction or troublesome use. Learning a basic education through awareness of what our emotional experience is and the intelligence we can achieve from this awareness can lay a foundation for improved emotional health. Upon this foundation it is possible to build emotional health using a Skills Based System of tools and techniques to both improve emotional health and establish a greater sense of wellbeing thus improving quality of life for System Involved Youth.
