Social-emotional learning is a framework that helps improve outcomes and the well-being of youth in care. Comprehensive learning goals for SEL include developmental benchmarks across five social and emotional competency domains: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making skills (CASEL, 2020). This training will discuss and explore the definition of social-emotional learning and its essential role in systems environments. Through didactic, collaborative, and interactive learning, participants will identify the critical components of SEL, explore how to incorporate SEL with other systems-based programs and learn the practical arts-based tools for implementing SEL into practice.
