Providing family therapy to families that have experienced generations of racial and cultural trauma can be challenging as well as impactful for both the families and providers. Prior to family therapy taking place, families may have experienced much trauma in their lives as well as services that may have not been accessible or poorly delivered. Therefore, this training focuses on building a foundation in learning effective ways to understand the challenges faced by families, especially BIPOC families, who have experienced racial/cultural/historical trauma as well as learn ways to engage and provide services in a trauma informed, linguistically appropriate, and culturally responsive manner.
