This course will provide relevant information on foster youth that have immigrated to this country and how to best support them in many environments including school, social services, clinical services, and in the community. The trainer will provide information on immigration trauma including: fears of deportation of self and/or extended family members, discrimination, anxiety regarding accessing resources, traumatic experiences prior to immigration, trauma in the process of immigrating, and post-immigration traumatic experiences. The training focus on how to assess for trauma, create safety and connect foster youth who have experienced immigration trauma with the appropriate care.
