This training explores the dynamics and psychological impact of bidirectional intimate partner violence (IPV), with a focus on how this form of violence affects children and adolescents involved in child welfare, juvenile justice, or other social service systems. Participants will examine the cyclical nature of IPV, including mutual aggression and its developmental consequences on youth exposed to these relationships. Using interactive lectures, case scenarios, and group discussions, this training equips participants with trauma-informed approaches for supporting system-involved youth who have been exposed to or involved in IPV. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing signs of exposure, mitigating intergenerational transmission of violence, and promoting resilience and healthy relational models.
