One of the most significant challenges for those supporting system-involved youth (SIY) is to effectively engage them to transcend their past experiences and what they lack in terms of life skills, network, and social-emotional development towards building a life that is constructive, inspires joy, is fun, promotes success in social settings, academics, and career related activities, and brings about a feeling of security in the individual that leads to healthy engagement with community. In this training, we will explore how to enhance our capacity to support system-involved youth (SIY) by exploring How to Cultivate Strengths in SIY and Provide Guidance on Identifying and Fostering Environmental Supports that will provide current and future direction and develop win/win alliances with others. Practicing and sharing the methods outlined by this workshop will allow us to improve the practice of how we empower system-involved youth towards emotional development and wellbeing while strengthening their resilience and ability to heal from traumatic events to lead a meaningful life.
