Foster Care Training

The focus of this training is to help resource parents understand the difficulties that foster youth may face around holidays, a time when family traditions are often celebrated. Discussion regarding grief and loss, triggers, identity and belonging, and possible overstimulation. Case scenarios are presented for different developmental levels-age groups. General strategies offered such as preparing kids ahead of time, offering choice, honor their heritage, normalizing feelings and present regulation tools. A variety of fun and inclusive activity ideas include holiday rituals for Christmas and Thanksgiving, and New Years.
