It’s crucial for social service providers to recognize and understand adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in the youth and families they work with. Research has shown that ACEs are linked to negative health outcomes throughout one’s lifespan including shortening one’s life expectancy. So, it’s crucial for social service providers to screen for ACEs, try to prevent ACEs and mediate when ACEs are identified.
