This training is designed to equip educators, counselors, social workers, caregivers and law enforcement officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively work with neurodivergent youth involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. Participants will explore common differences neurodivergent youth experience, such as communication barriers, sensory sensitivities and difficulties with social interactions. This training offers practical approaches to address these intersectional issues. Participants learn how to create supportive environments, adapt helpful measures to youth in care’s needs to foster positive relationships to improve outcomes for system-involved youth who are neurodivergent.
