This training focuses on one step of a Therapeutic Assessment with foster youth and at-risk youth–the Family Intervention Session. A definition and rationale of the AIS will be provided, along with the primary goals and principles to hold. Steps in planning and executing the AIS will be reviewed, with clinical examples that illustrate these ideas. Attendees will be able to apply what they learn to case conceptualization and
intervening systemically with a family as part of a Therapeutic Assessment. Further, they will understand how the AIS affects their approach to the feedback process, allowing them to communicate more effectively with systems-involved youth and caregivers.
