Explain how this training is relevant to working with youth and families that are involved with the child welfare system and/or probation system.) Implicit bias is present in society as well as the social services field. It’s important social service providers understand implicit bias and ways it shows up and impacts recommendations, treatment and one’s ability to build relationship with system-involved youth and young adults. This training will provide an overview of ways implicit bias is present in social services, how it impacts system-involved youth and young adults and what we can do to address implicit bias when it shows up.
