“”Training Summary: Part 1 of this training will focus on suicide risk factors, high risk communities, and protective factors. Attendees will familiarize themselves with general suicide risk and protective factors, also exploring factors that are specific to youth. The training will include a brief discussion of suicide assessment tools available to agencies serving youth. Attendees will review the limits of confidentiality, framing these limits at the beginning of the treatment relationship, and how to initiate emergency services. The training will include large group discussion, breakout groups, and the use of vignettes. Class Objectives: (what knowledge, ideas or skills will participants explore, learn, practice, etc during the training) 1. Attendees will be able to identify at least 2 youth specific suicide risk factors. 2. Attendees will be able to identify at least 2 youth specific high-risk communities. 3. Attendees will practice using a brief screening tool at least 1 time. Participants will be able to: 1. Participants can implement the screening tools practiced during the training to identify and assess youth at risk for suicide within their communities 2. Participants can apply their understanding of suicide risk and protective factors by creating and fostering environments that mitigate risk and enhance protective factors.
