Training Summary: “”Dichos”” or proverbs are significant in many cultures and hold deep meaning in Latine culture. This presentation will explore the integration of dichos into culturally affirming care to enhance recovery and resiliency of a population impacted and exposed to multiple forms of trauma and oppression. By incorporating dichos/cuentos into clinical approaches, we provide care that resonates with clients’ experiences and backgrounds, and can be a tool for fostering identity, and empowerment. Class Objectives: (what knowledge, ideas or skills will participants explore, learn, practice, etc during the training) 1. Participants will identify and explain the cultural importance of Dichos 2. Participants will understand how to incorporate dichos into therapeutic practices that enhance engagement and trust. 3.Participants will review and identify historical and intersectional barriers impacting Latine community Participants will be able to: 1. Participants can provide gender-affirming support to system involved transition age youth, choosing from the six premises. 2. Participants can use one of the six community-based resources to support trans, nonbinary, or gender questioning system involved transition age youth.
