This introductory training will provide an overview of domestic violence. Training will provide a general overview to understand the trauma caused by domestic violence and how it impacts youth and clients in care outcomes. Training will cover the cycles of violence and how to describe this to clients in care. Participants will discuss and share resources for domestic violence related issues such as: survivor, perpetrator and children’s needs. We will discuss how the cycle of violence has negative risk factors for children and youth and how to hold these discussions with clients in care. Participants will develop a trauma-informed approach to supporting youth and clients in care who are involved in a domestic violent relationship. The material will be delivered by PowerPoint presentation, short video clips, group discussion, breakout (small group) discussions and participant workbook (handout).
