This deep dive into the intersections of gender, queerness, and BIPoC identity pays homage to the Black, Chicana, and Sikh Feminist frameworks of Kimberlé Crenshaw, Patricia Hill Collins, Elizabeth Martínez, and Valarie Kaur. We will begin to explore the complex relationships between power and domination, the history of cultural erasure, and look toward a future of intersectional solidarity. We use an interactive workshop model that integrates video and imagery to engage child welfare professionals in building a more holistic understanding of these terms and legacies and how it applies to their work with systems-impacted youth and families. The workshop includes breakout room discussions, independent reflection, and whole group learning and dialogue.
