Training Summary: In this workshop, participants will understand the foundations of drama therapy and the differences and intersections in other modalities, including but not limited to psychodrama, bibliodrama, and the work of Virginia Satir with families. Using interactive techniques to teach elements of drama therapy, participants will engage in experiential exercises to use with diverse populations of clients including children, families, and adults.
Class Objectives: (what knowledge, ideas or skills will participants explore, learn, practice, etc during the training)
1. Name 2-3 essential components of drama therapy and why these components foster healing in the clients.
2. Identify 3 ways that the use of drama therapy strategies can help in the assessment, treatment, and termination phases of therapy.
3. Utilize 1 skill with their clients that are rooted in principles of drama therapy.
Participants will be able to:
1. Reflect on drama therapy concepts to support clients with managing their symptoms
2. Apply a new skill in assessment and/or treatment.
