Foster Care Training

Understanding the needs of youth in care can be impacted by a number of factors specific to the youth, the environment, and the perspectives of those professionals who work with youth and screen their needs. This training contextualizes the factors that may be external to the youth that may be impacting the services that youth are able to access. Special attention is paid to the notion of cultural biases in the exploration of youth needs. Participants learn strategies to self-critique cultural understandings and to demonstrate humility and curiosity with youth and families at the center.
