Youth who have been recently removed and who spend time at the temporary receiving center/shelter of the Assessment Center of Alameda County may at times experience over-stays and challenges in obtaining a stable placement in a foster home. Youth (and providers) may experience hopelessness and increased acuity in their needs when these challenges arise. This training reviews strategies for navigating youth needs and the systemic barriers to identifying placements. The participants in this training utilize case presentations in order to discuss and develop an understanding of youth challenges and to discuss strategies for decreasing escalation of youth in that setting.
