This three-part series reviews special factors that may influence services for Latinx Foster Youth. Latinx Youth in foster care can enter the child welfare system with language needs, stresses of familial acculturation, and may face specific struggles related to cultural identity and ritual in particular foster care placements. This training reviews special factors facing Latinx foster youth, and how differences with their foster family with regard to rituals or expectations may surface. Communication may be impacted, at times due to language barriers and nuanced cultural differences, as well as due to common communication issues that face foster families generally.
