With the goal of providing context for understanding and addressing some of the struggles and perseverance of African American families involved with the child welfare system, information will be presented on the impact of multigenerational trauma and how it is transmitted from parent to child, the added and cumulative effect of racial trauma and how all these stressors impacts African-American lived experience and various responses to this traumatic stress. Participants will also learn supportive strategies and interventions for addressing trauma with African American youth and families.
