The focus of this training is to provide participants with information on providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive closure and termination techniques with foster youth. Participants will gain an understanding about the importance of age appropriate and culturally-focused closure and termination techniques. Participants will gain an understanding about the various types of transference and counter-transference that may occur during closure and termination.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Participants will understand the importance of closure and termination with foster youth
  2. Participants will learn about the relationship between past familial grief and loss that foster youth may experience, and the termination of the therapeutic relationship
  3. Participants will be able to practice closure and termination techniques using current cases
  4. Using case vignettes, participants will be able to discuss closure and termination techniques, including more challenging scenarios
