Child sexual exploitation is a dynamic that almost always involves child sexual abuse in the home leading to further sexual abuse and exploitation outside the home as well as aspects of domestic violence and the strategic use of substances, money, housing and affection. Given the complexity, it is essential to be trauma-informed and to recognize the impact of trauma on the brain. Victims of CSE themselves ask for interventions that are “soft” and “nonjudgmental.” This training helps professionals understand the multiple layers of trauma and how to create safe and collaborative practices to replace the cycle of exploitation and dominance experienced by CSE victims. No prior training required. All staff levels welcome. Survivor voices encouraged.
