In this training, participants will learn about the 3-5-7 model approach to working with grief and loss that Aldea staff, particularly the Behavioral Support Counselors (BSC), use with their clients. The 3-5-7 model is designed specifically for foster children and youth to help them understand their past, where they are in the present, and what permanency and their future means to them. The work involved can help youth regulate their emotions, integrate into resource families, and establish permanent connections. Resource parents can apply the strategies mentioned in the training to better respond to specific negative behaviors of youth in care that can be the result of grief and loss. The trainer will prepare examples of different 3-5-7 activities and behavior work resource parents can do with their youth.
