Come relax and connect with yourself while learning how to help young people do the same. Many young people struggle with an inner life that feels chaotic, confusing, and overwhelming. In this highly experiential training, we’ll explore how to simplify, clarify, and cultivate the inner life through mindfulness, somatics, and emotional self-awareness. Through this training, we will increase our self-awareness and practice self-care, while learning how to apply these skills to the youth we serve. The Inner Life Skills curriculum is designed to help young people learn the language of their inner lives. In a simple step-by-step manner, using a sequence of conceptual building blocks and experiential exercises, the curriculum guides youth safely into their internal experience, helps them identify and organize this experience, and helps them build the language and understanding to better differentiate and more fully live their experience on a moment-to-moment basis. Increased self-awareness translates into greater resilience, stronger emotion regulation, more stable concentration, greater clarity and ability to articulate what is happening internally, and greater choice and response flexibility. By starting with ourselves, we’ll create the conditions to bring these tools, practices, and distinctions to the young people we serve.
