As empathy, service providers are often inundated with client stories of trauma and the emotional responses to those experiences. This can lead to a personal emotional toll on the service provider as they bear witness and assist clients in developing or strengthening coping skills. Useful for non-clinical service providers in a range of roles, this training will assist participants to gain a basic understanding of trauma, secondary traumatic stress (STS), and vicarious trauma (VT); increase knowledge of the differences between, and impacts of, trauma, STS and VT; assess personal and workplace risk and protective factors for STS and VT; and learn concrete tools to address their effects.
