For many service providers, determining suicide risk can be an anxiety-provoking event. Service providers often feel unequipped to provide an adequate risk assessment and intervention when a client is suicidal. However, most service providers will encounter during their career a client that is experiencing suicidal ideation and behaviors. This 2-hour workshop provides mental health professionals tools that can be used immediately to provide a adequate risk assessment and help the clinician create a safer environment for their client. The workshop uses a variety of teaching methods including but not limited to movie clips, lecture, role-play, discussion and case study. This workshop will focus explicitly on suicidality of youth.
