Designed to increase staff capacity to address and de-escalate conflict, the goal of this training is to teach concrete skills toward building safe and healthy communities for program participants and staff. We will focus review the psychobiology of emotions and crisis, focusing on self-control and self-care. We will also revisit basic conflict prevention concepts including the role of professionalism, boundaries, communication, and trust with clients and between team members. Participants learn and practice the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Model, designed to help staff provide for the best possible care and welfare of disruptive and/or out-of-control clients/members.
