This training is designed for mental health professionals who are interested in serving their clients by expanding their Spanish language skill set. Participants must have an intermediate level of fluency. Featuring terminology and cultural phrases specific to the mental health profession, this training will offer an introduction to both the Spanish language and interfacing with Spanish-speaking clients in a counseling setting. Useful and practical vocabulary exercises will be utilized which will enable the participant to put his or her developing skills to use. Case studies in English and Spanish, as well as discussions regarding Latino history, customs, and social manners will assist the participant’s depth of interaction with Spanish-speaking clients.
