Foster Care Training

This training is the second of six sessions designed to prepare Resource Families to work with youth in the foster care system. Participants will review how care providers have some of the most challenging roles in the entire child welfare system. They must be prepared to welcome a new child into their home and cope with state/county/agency regulations, policies, and paperwork. Resource Parents will be prepared with knowledge of extreme trauma foster youth have experienced and ways to cope and help the child to heal. The ability of care providers to recognize and be sensitive to the effects of trauma on a child’s behavior, development, and relationships is critical for healthy child development.
