We can cultivate resiliency through practices that are easy, enjoyable and creative. As we experience and are exposed to trauma, we must consciously choose to take care of ourselves so that our health and well-being are not compromised by chronic stress. This is particularly true for people who provide care and support to children, youth and families who are system involved. This training will be primarily experiential with some lecture. We’ll move indoors and outside (if whether permits);)make art; share stories; and identify barriers and strategies to increase the range and frequency of our actions of self-care. We’ll consider how we might share these practices with others. Information and activities are based in years of clinical and personal experience; current research and neurobiology; and are presented in a recovery-based framework.
