In this interactive keynote Yolo Akili Robinson, Executive Director of BEAM, will use case examples and pop culture to explore the impact of toxic masculinities on Black dependent youth’s wellbeing and illuminate strategies, frameworks and tools that interrupt cycles of harm and support them in healing and emotional development. This lecture is geared towards those working with young men, masculine of center individuals, and boys in the foster care system. This training engages participants in reflective exercises, dialogue and skill-building sessions. The training equips participants with knowledge of mental health issues, myths and challenges in Black communities, and provides participants with tools and skills to offer healing justice informed support.
