This course reviews the impact of trauma on youth development including mental health and behavioral consequences. Trauma related disorders are discussed including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, reactive attachment disorder, and disinhibited social engagement disorder. Treatment approaches and evidence based practices for trauma related disorders are provided. Cognitive behavioral interventions and self-regulation skills that support youth in managing trauma are also reviewed.
