This training will focus on helping participants understand the dilemmas and obstacles that foster parents face so as to better forge relationships with the children placed in their home. It will address how youth adhere to trauma exposure once in foster home setting. The goals of this training is to identify a strength based approach through unconditional parenting, communication and collaboration so as to better serve foster youth.

Objectives:
  • Participants will discuss most common causes of youth’s placement in out of home care.
  • Effective evidence-based techniques in unconditional positive parenting when working with foster youth.
  • Reinforcing the power of listening, one on one time and creating an environment of positive things for children to work towards.
  • Attendees will role play and identify the importance of demonstrating unconditional affection and positive affirmation when working with children.
