Parenting in OZ is an experiential, trauma informed, parenting curriculum designed to help parents understand and respond therapeutically to difficult acting-out behaviors often exhibited by children who have experienced neglect, abuse and loss. This training is appropriate for all parents or caregivers tasked with parenting a child with difficult behaviors. It meets all the general requirements for caregiver approval. This training is also appropriate for kinship providers, non-relative caregivers, adoptive parents, and biological parents.

Objectives:
  1. Participants will understand, integrate & quickly access and apply the lessons learned in this training as they work with the children in their care.
  2. Participants will be able to identify the difference between stressful and traumatic experiences.
  3. Participants will review and be able to identify factors on how children react to trauma.
  4. Participants will work with other members of the team to identify ways to address challenging behaviors and help children develop new, positive coping skills.
