The DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition) has many significant differences from previous editions, including new diagnoses, changes to previous diagnoses, and a new classification system. The manual also encourages bringing a cultural prospective to diagnoses. Through lecture, video and vignettes this course will explore the new manual and explain how to determine which diagnoses to use for Medi-Cal specialty mental health services.
