The presentation will include clinical examples and didactic lecture of how to provide and facilitate Sand Play Therapy to integrate healing for youth and families in foster care and/or the juvenile justice system. Through experiential exercises and sharing in the training group, participants will learn how to utilize their own creative expression and process as a resource to minimize stress from their work with court dependent families.

The training will include information and discussion about how to create a sand tray therapy that can be portable and adaptable to their community-based work with young clients and their families.

Participants can utilize skills learned in the training by:
  1. Facilitating sandplay therapy sessions with their clients in child welfare to reinforce their learning of new skills learned in this course.
  2. Participants can practice their skills with colleagues by using sand play as a peer group process to further their practice, knowledge and experience using this modality.
