The purpose of the training is to introduce the Cultural Accountability paradigm of the Center for the Vulnerable Child (CVC) to a team of providers training to work with children who are in foster care, or are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Training will focus on establishing the culture at the CVC. Mental Health Trainees will be asked to begin the process of self-examination around the relationship they have with their cultural selves and to identifying critical impacts they may have on their clients and the impacts the clients may have on them, as a result. Additionally, this training will enhance providers’ capacity to provide services within a social justice framework and to develop their identities as advocates in the system of comprehensive care with the aim of improving the functioning and relationships of children in dependency with their parents, families, and caregivers.
