This training will help participants understand how system-involved youth are affected by hook up culture. Participants will learn the differences between casual sex, committed relationships, and situationships. They will also learn about the range of emotions tied to casual sexual encounters (e.g. confusion, shame, excitement) and how these emotions can affect mental health and self-esteem for system-involved youth. In this training, participants will also explore multiple proactive and reactive strategies for communicating with youth about sexual encounters so that they can process experiences they have had and are empowered to make informed decisions within their relationships in the future.
