California law now provides that youth in care who turn 18 years of age can elect to remain in care until age 21; or they can choose to leave care and then reenter until they reach the age of 21. These individuals, known collectively as Non-Minor Dependents, face unique challenges and require a different type of care than minor dependents (under 18 years of age).
