Foster Care Training

This is Day 4 of a 4-part workshop presenting training content that has been determined by the Fussy Baby Network® as part of a standardized approach for introducing providers to the FAN Model, a communication tool for professionals working with families. Originally developed by Erikson professor Linda Gilkerson and her Fussy Baby Network® team as part of their work to support parents dealing with challenging infant behaviors (crying, difficulty sleeping and feeding), it is now recognized as an effective tool to support providers in developing a framework for reflective practice within a wide variety of service settings, including home visitors, nurses, pediatricians, lawyers and mental health providers, especially those working with high-risk families and infants and toddlers in foster care. The FAN has become a national model for family engagement and reflective practice. Participants will explore the benefits of this approach and learn more about the steps needed to explore this model more deeply and work towards FAN certification through the FAN Level I and II training series.
