In this training participants will learn and practice a variety of ways to engage natural supports of the youth they serve. Principles related to inquiring about what people give value to and how to get to know people as more than the problems they face will be presented. Tools such as the Tree of Life and interviewing for strengths as intentional practices will be demonstrated and then practiced by the group. Emphasis will be placed on paying particular attention to the local cultural practices of those we engage. The notion that we, as listeners, are changed by the stories the invite to be told will be included as part of the discussion.
