In this training participants will learn the various search strategies used within the Family Finding and Engagement model in order to build teams of natural supports for foster youth.  The importance of building a team of natural supports will be emphasized and supported by research related to the detrimental impact of loneliness.  Time will be spent presenting the different search tools used, including Seneca Searches, Mobility Mapping and Facebook.  Participants should come prepared to do some search work related to a youth they are currently serving as they will have opportunities to engage with the strategies during this workshop and receive feedback.  Although the Family Finding model was created to assist foster youth, these search strategies could be useful for anyone working with youth who are struggling in their current context.
