In this interactive workshop participants will learn and practice facilitation skills needed to engage meaningful, compassionate, effective conversations about oppression and discrimination. We will cultivate an understanding of the difference between “safety” and “comfort” and identify opportunities for growth within discomfort. Together, we will explore and practice tools and techniques to thoughtfully interrupt oppression and engage difficult and uncomfortable conversations within our communities. We will increase skill in clearly defining, explaining, and discussing systemic oppression with individuals at varying levels of experience, and deepen understanding of how to establish safer spaces using group agreements, dialogue, non-judgmental listening, and unconditional care.
