In our society, what does it mean to be a “real man”? This training will provide caregivers with an understanding of how our ideas of masculinity are harming our boys. Through media, peer groups, and upbringing, boys are faces with harsh gender stereotypes which are linked to depression, violence, and self-harm. This training will explore our collective narrow definition of masculinity, the ways in which “hypermasculinity” is harming our boys, young men, and society all together – and what we can do about it.
